What Are GLP-1 Medications?
GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) receptor agonists are clinically proven medications that help regulate appetite, reduce food cravings, and improve blood sugar control. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, they are now widely used for medical weight loss.
Commonly prescribed GLP-1 medications include:
Semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®)
Liraglutide (Saxenda®, Victoza®)
These medications act on areas of the brain that regulate hunger and satiety, helping you feel fuller, longer.
How Does It Work?
GLP-1 medications:
- Slow stomach emptying
- Decrease appetite and food intake
- Improve insulin sensitivity and blood sugar levels
- Help you achieve and maintain significant weight loss
